Heya peeps!
I recently got rid of my pc, and totally forgot about LFS. Now I really wanna play the game. Is there any way I could play it on the XBOX360?. Like America's Army is on the xbox, but it old, and LFS is an Install game, and the xbox you can install software, so I thought would this work, if I installed it on a CD or something

No, you can't run programs written for Windows on an Xbox and vice versa, you would need a complete port or an emulator.

Theoretical progression..
Linux WILL run on xbox
WINE WILL run on Linux
LFS WILL run on WINE
Therefore,
LFS will run on xbox...
but with all that buggering about, and given the basic spec of xbox ( 733 pentium and GF3 gfx), it will prolly run like sh1t :D

he meant the xbox360
which is a tiny little bit more powerful than that

OK, it should be doable.

It's a different architecture though, it would need to emulate the whole PC so you'd most likely end up with much worse performance.

QEMU - People have booted XP using it.

Thats not much, saying it has booted XP, a PSP with QEMU can boot XP but its so slow, that to emulate XP on a 360, to play the already CPU taxing game of LFS, only the Cell processor could handle that kind of work.

but no OS can use the cells full power, current Linux conversations can only use one or two of the kernels, three(?) remain unused.

This wont happen anytime soon im afraid, the community has only really started peeling back how it all works. With the latest hypervisor hack some fella called stonersmurf apparently got Ubuntu loaded onto the 360, if this is true or not
Still its risky business and could eat your 360! I suggest you go buy a PC :D

Xbox 360 would run LFS and rFactor at the same time, without breaking a sweat. unfortunately the graphics on both games would need a massive update.:) just think High definition graphics on LFS, well a man can dream. :thumb:

Here's a tip, set your resolution in LFS to 1280x1080. Guess what? You now have HD LFS. :)

1280x1080?! That's like the bastardization of 720p and 1080p :P

Woops, 1920x1080 then :D

:really: doesn't HD means 16-9 ???

That's why (i think) normal PC monitors (not the widescreens) can only show the 720p solution...
but why putting it to HD solution... I mean, it would be enought to have it on the XBOX 360
:D

I can run LFS at 3200x1200... PC > HDTV

Linux does not support Force Feedback
Xbox would need many many more keys
I can't imagine LFS with console-style menus, ouch.

well I don't think you need "many many" more keys... because "many many" thinks you don't need... sometimes, when I think my wheel had to see too much rubbish (because of my driving) :D , I'm using my PS2 gamepad too... works very well, and I do not miss a thing(I mean, I have 4 axes, and 12 buttons)
and about the LFS with console-style menus: for menus the stick of the controler can be taken as cursor...
and when I think of PS2 Linux, you can use Mouse and Keyboard for it, and I think (99% sure) that there are mouses and keyboards for the XBox too, but don't know about the 360
dawesdust_12

there are no mice or keyboards for xbox (without an adapter because all the xbox controller slot is is a modified USB slot) and if you do get one connected, you cannot use it for xbox outside of linux.

well... okey... but do you mean the "XBOX 1" or the 360? the 360 got USB-Controller, i know...
on the XBOX 1 there was a possibility to play it (with adaptor)... I'm remembering that it was presented on NBC GIGA two or three years ago... I've got a PS2, so I can only really say, that a USB keyboard works well with the right games (e.g. Red Faction 2)
as far as I'm concerned I would generally like to see a console version of LFS wich can connect to the PC version too (like in PES6), but I think, that would be too much for only three developpers

I no you can just up the screen resolution, i was thinking more about Photorealistic Graphics that you see on XBox 360 racing games.

Xbox, you cannot do USB in games, 360 certain games there are keyboard support but only for chat, as with Xbox Live. Xbox didn't even have a reasonably easy way to hook up a keyboard.

Can't you just copy all the information from LFS(after extracting) to a DVD disc for the 360?, you should try that and see if it works :)
Would be awesome to play LFS on a 360.

I no you can just up the screen resolution, i was thinking more about Photorealistic Graphics that you see on XBox 360 racing games. That is more to do with using the technology available, such as DX10 when it becomes widespread. (I know just doing things the DX10 way won't make better graphics but properly using its better graphics functions will :))
