i must have had well over 10000 miles. I had the demo for over a year, and played it frequently. Its great to have more then 3 cars, and some faster coompetition.

I probably had a lot, but I don't remember, it was a long time ago. I had demo for a while because I didn't have a credit card and my parents wouldn't buy it, however, as soon as a got a card, LFS was my very first purchase :)

I had thousand's of miles on the demo, and I bought a license the day... (or within a couple days at least)... I discovered lfs. The people I enjoyed racing with were still demo user's, so I spent most of my time on the demo until s2 was released and they all got a license.

I did about 30-60 laps a day at blackwood for about 2 months in Demo.
Too much content in Demo. I only bought S2 'cause DaveWS told me to. nvm, I managed to make some good Euros in Caribbean Cruise Server and buy him an XRT for all his efforts of late.
And btw: i want my life back. LFS has consumed it. :D

Few months, XRT on BL1. No idea on how many miles though :/. Bought S2 and hated all the other cars and drove XRT on demo servers some more :p
EDIT: few months S2. Drove few laps every now and then hotlapping the BL1 and BL2R combos with XRT. Liked GPL a lot more at the time...

Lest see... S1 was version 0.3. I started when it was version 0.1k I think back in late 2002. Found the forum some time later in Feb 2003, and have been racing ever since. I have no idea how many miles I had before S1. I know have 42k miles since they started keeping track. If that is since the begining then I am averaging 10k a year in virtual reality and 20k a year in reality. I think I am driving too much.

Probably played for a week at the most, and not every night by any means, so perhaps 100 miles, if that? Mostly XRG, as that is a lovely little car, using my Red Momo...
No one knew me, I wasn't very quick, and it feels like a lifetime ago!

Probably more then 50.000 Km. I played demo longer then a year before I bought S2. And most of it on BL1/XRT :D

I've been playing LFS since S1 Patch E (december 2003) and I bought my licenses on the 21st of June 2005. That's one and a half year of demo addiction, must have been at least 15000 miles. I think that I had the same problems as most demo racers had back then : no credit card. I finally managed to get a mates dad to buy it for me, and I paid him the money.
My demo-life in short. :D

Perhaps 25 000 miles before S1 was released. When it was released I got licensed right away.

I'd played the demo but was very bored very quickly; I thought it was just a car park with a hatchback!!!
I actually jumped straight in and bought S2 a long time afterwards because of comments/reviews about it when I was looking for something realistic. I didn't realise the two were the same game until I got S2, how bizarre is that?!

i'd say about 200 miles. I really liked the game.

27th March 2007, 11:11
hard to say
i tried the demo test years ago ... kinda liked the weight shifts and the physics in general but there was something very wrong about it (now i know it was mostly the tyres) so i forgot about it after some 30 mins of playing
then some time after s1 came out (patch e or something like that) i gave it another 30 min whirl and decided it still wasnt up to par
and then 2 years ago a inet buddy told me there was a s2 demo ... ran it for a few mins with mouse ask a freind of mine if i could borrow his wheel ... raced a little more ans decided i had to have it (although i was still trying to convince myself not to buy it ... ended up preordering s2)
so all in all id guess less then 500km

I had demo for about 4 months before i bought S1 way back then....I'd played for around a year before I bought S1, and I would guess had driven around 7.5k miles. Only lately have i been seriously doing any milagae, whilst practising one car/track for an upcoming endurance race, which since i have little experience in endurance is needed. My milage is growing every day :D

I found LFS when the S2 demo was out. Bought an S1 license the same day but didn't play it much because everybody was on the S2 demo servers, bought into S2 when it was released about 4 weeks later.

My early trials of LFS didn't have me convinced at first so I drove a lot on demo. probbaly 2 hours a day for a couple of months. When I tried S2 it only took 2 short weeks on demo to finally get my licence.

Probably 50 at max, but I can't really remember. I drove quite a few miles offline in S1, though before I finally jumped online (I was too scared to suck and mess up other people's race :tilt:).

It would be anyone's guess but I started in 2002 as well. 19/08/2002 to be precise with the original 15.7MB no music demo. Version 0.04L :thumb:
I think I would be underestimating if I said I thought I have done 50,000KM + in this game. I spent a lot of time on it.

Yeah from the start. Just to put it into prospective. I know especially when I was really hooked I would race for up to 8 hours a day or more and that went on for a long time.
Oh and racked up 20,000km over 12 weeks of being a courier in real life... 9 hour days doing on average 330km per day and I rarely got to go very quickly at all. Most of the time I was below 70Km/h compared to LFS, doing average speeds probably double that for just as many hours per day. :Eyecrazy:
I've done 34229.14KM since S1 was released and I know I would have put in many more hours of alpha demo the since we got S1 and S2
Approaching 100,000KM isn't sounding so crazy anymore.
No wonder I wore out so many steering wheels.

Wow I don't see you very often since S2!! I remember having races with you and a bunch for SCR guys back in S1 vividly though .(although you might not remember:D)
I think I have more than 8000km too since I participated in Andre's original LFS league way before S1, there were days where I just sit and do 5 lappers of GTi/blackwood for 6 hour straight, and was never bored.

i played GTR for about 9 months, and wanted to love it, but was totally frustrated by the physics. then i got the LFS demo, and during the first lap the rear end came loose, but i recovered, and it felt so real i couldn't believe it. i bought S2 the next day.

I too found LFS in 2002 (.1E, dated Oct. 7th, 2002 to be exact). I think I raced a lot more back then than I do now. You'll rarely find me in public servers these days unless I'm practicing for a league event, and even then I'll sometimes do that offline so I can collect telemetry data.
I currently have 40000 miles since the day S1 came out, so my guess is I had around 5000 miles accumulated before S1 was released.

I wasn't around for S1, but I bought S2 the day after I tried the demo. I doubt I had more than 30 laps before I laid down my money.

Then I got a wheel, drove a 3-lap race on rallycross, and bought the game.

I must have driving 150 laps at least on Blackwood 1 in the XFG. maybe 50 in the XRG. about 50 in the XRT. Blackwood reverse 200+ laps in the XRT. less that 30 each in the XFG and XRG. as for rallycross. maybe 90 laps in the XFG, XRG. about 10 in the XRT. I also drove around drifting in the car park a lot in the XRT and XRG. i didn't do much XFG'n in blackwood carpark. too slow to avoid the wreckers. In S2 i still constantly get "LFSW reports first lap on this car/track combo" message. I had the demo for about 2 months. driving about 2 hours a day 4-6 times a week(it was summer time:D ).
the first car i drove in S2 was the FXR on SO5!

I think quite a lot as it was not possible to buy LFS straight away, so I did most of driving perhaps before I got license actually.
LFS was first game that I did play online, after that I have tried few but there has been no similar fun in those, only playing PES6 and Soldat with brother has been as fun as playing LFS online.
But how many miles, well maybe something like 30 000 but I really have no idea, such long time ago, I really can't remember that far too well.

Somewhere between 50.000-100.000km on Demo can't be far off, I started on S1 and played it like mad. Now I've had S2 license for 1,5 months and I've already rolled 11.000km, but I guess that's alot to do with driving faster cars.

discovered the demo at the end of Oct 02 and had so many nice races. I was always to lazy to get the licence but thanks to lfs.de it was finally possible for me in Feb 04. Had also no credit card, paypal whatsoever and lfs.de made it at some point possible to order and pay it via bank account if i remember this correctly. :thumb: How many miles? I dont know, maybe 50000+? Who cares...:D

Initially a friend told me about this game.
I have had the demo for 2 years or over :scratchch
I remember how we used to race with my friend on demo servers and he had DFP and I had KB+Mouse combination and he was always winning me.
Then (over a year ago or so) I got Momo and he quitted playing LFS so I moved to drifting. It really payed off because I learned many driving techniques buy drifting.
I always wanted to buy S2 but there was no time or money or I forgot to buy it when I had xtra money. So this winter I finally did it and bought S2 and I must admit Im pretty happy with it.
Partly because of the game and partly of the community that is simply fabilous I think :thumb:
So I guess it was like 50.000 or something

Few 10s of thousands I think, Started sometime in 0.1 version, so Autumn 2002? - July 2003 (or whenever S1 was released), during which I played pretty much every day, for hours :p

6th December 2007, 13:12
I played the game almost every day for HOURS, racing and drifting in the demo... probably something like 10 hours a week of LFS(modest estimate) for a year in the demo:x
i dunno how that would translate into miles

My computer racing started with Gran Turismo.... very fond memories which started a hobby.
I had never even heard of lfs until I accidently stumbled into some videos on youtube a couple months back and needless to say I was ready before I even downloaded it. I downloaded it only to realize it was the racing sim that dreams are made of.
I only made enough laps to make sure it worked on my computer, then immediately purchased. The dev's deserve it, wicked great game, I only wish I had heard about it sooner.:scratchch
And no, I haven't played Gran Turismo since.

None. I played S1 on someone else's computer for the first time, and got my own licence straight away without even bothering using the demo version on my own computer.
S1 only lasted me a few months before I got tired of the limited cars and tracks, so I didn't really touch LFS from late 2003/early 2004 to mid-2005 when S2 was out. But since S2 was released I've pretty much been clocking up the miles every month.

Too much...
Enough to reach 1.33xx in the XFG and XRG and 1.24xx in the XRT (mouse...). And I'm not fast.
So probably around 2 years, not much free time due to job and family so I would guess 10-30'000km. Then I decided to sneak LFS license at home (my wife is not exactly in agreement with this kind of entertainment), if only to repay the devs for what they have provided us. I'm not very proud of the sneaking bit but now enjoy S2 :)
What I found in S2 (and did not expect from demo) is a mature and tight knit community.
What I'm missing is wheel and pedals to go with it, but I know it would be pushing too far. I think I might get my hands on a wheel when S3 is out ;)

I think you should get a wheel for occupational health and safety reasons. Mouse can cause RSI related issues and you will be more miserable and inturn will make your wife miserable because of your constant hand cramps, pain and whining. So urge her it's in her best interests for you get a wheel.
The money you save on doctors bills for not needing RSI treatment can be used to purchase the wheel.:D
The more you play LFS the more she will get used to it. :tilt:

I started playing LFS, when it was state S1A, played it few times, didn't like graphics and playing with keyboard sucked hard. So next time i'll played was around patch G, then i really started to like this game, then comes patch H and it changed whole game to way more realistic, then it became impossible to drive with keyboard.
Then came S2, and i was AMAZED about new graphic and look of the game.
I have to confess that i downloaded crack back then to just see what kinda was those other cars in game
:bananadea:bananadea:bananadea:bananadea:bananadea
And it made me crazy! I was so delighted about the game, that i wanted to buy it. Well after 1 month of driving offline with crack, i got the money and buyed LFS. I played about 2-3 weeks with keyboard, then my mom bought me Black Momo, and there started my hobby with LFS, now i got G25 and waiting for patch Y, and i'm faster than ever.
So i guess i drove about 500 laps before i bought LFS, now i've driven about 500 races. And i'm so glad that i bought this game, didn't waste my money :)
P.S so sorry Scawen about playing with crack, i regred it
