View Full Version : Server Restart issue

I play on your servers a lot particularly the minis but there is an area that could be improved.
When the track is changed the race starts automatically and most racers are not ready which results is 3 to 5 cars out of 23 racing whilst the rest of us join in here and there. Very annoying if its a long track and you have to wait 20 minutes for restart.
Anything that can be done or not?

I agree that it is a tad annoying missing the start of the race because you are busy changing setup and sorting fuel, but once a minute (IIRC) has passed you can vote restart. If enough people do it then all is good.

I think the time it takes for the track change is plenty of time to choose fuel and a setup. How long do you need? It's not like you need to unbolt the strut mounts and tops, get a spring compressor on, wip the old springs out and put new ones in lol.
I like to get in there early so I'm at the front of the grid. I often win the first race after a track change. :)

I could make it announce the first race as a lag lap and put a restart in 30 seconds after the first race on a new track is started, however i'd want to hear the opinion of drivers who are not lifetime banned before I did so.

Don't think it's necessary, if most people aren't ready, then they can vote for a restart!

Thats what I like to see. People who can see the positives in a negative situation. :)
The world would be a better place if there were more lads like you m8.

Had an issue like this last night (might be with the guy who requested the feature). There were only 3 of us. One person and I were getting bored on a track and the third person showed up during the last few laps. I asked if anyone wanted to try something different and the other two agreed.
Voted to End Race. I didn't bother changing my set up when the new track loaded and immediately hit the big green "ready" button. That put me onto the track and the race started automatically. The other two didn't come out of the pits in time, so I was about 1/4 lap ahead.
The guy/girl who joined late on the previous track moaned and cried that I didn't wait to start. I suggested that they vote to restart, but the person bailed.
Upshot of all of this: don't change anything. If people come in late or don't have the proper set up in time, they can vote to restart.
However, I do get a bit annoyed when I'm leading a race in a large pack, there's a wreck at the back, and the damaged people vote (and win) to restart.

I think thats a good idea. Specially for the longer races.
