View Full Version : Wheel problem in patch V

Hi everyone,
That's my first post in this forum. Nice to meet you all!
:)
I'm experiencing some problems with my wheel in patch V. It's calibrated in Windows XP and in LFS 0.5U. I can configure and calibrate in patch U with no problems. I had installed patch U and the game just crashed (i have a backup! lol). Now, I had downloaded the full version with patch V and my wheel is not correctly calibrated in game. I had recalibrated it in Windows XP and had no problems, but in patch V I just can not calibrate the wheel.
What is the problem? The wheel have three axis. The steering axis, the brake axis and the trottle axis. In patch U, the game recognizes with axis 1 and axis 2. The axis 1 is the steering axis. The axis 2 is the brake and the trottle axis and it works fine, perfectly. But in patch V, the game uses axes 0 (steering) and axis 1 (trottle and brake). Whatever I do in
configuration and recalibrating, the brake is always in 50% on.
The wheel in question is a ThrustMaster Formula T2 (WDM).
Help me, kindly!
Thank you!
Regards,
Rico

I can't help with that wheel specifically, but sometimes mine (a Saitek R440) messes up like that when I've reinstalled LFS or the wheel.
Mine is usually caused by the drivers themselves rather than LFS. Make sure in your Game Controllers options you have any combined brake and throttle axes turned off. The last time, I had to do this several times before it worked (I'm not sure why), but it eventually saved the option properly and separated my pedals again.

I have exactly the same problem on my Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback wheel, can't seem to get it right...
And I don't think I have any downloads left from liveforspeed.net
Anyway, it shouldn't have to be like this so I've mailed the liveforspeed people with this problem.

Hi. I don't understand the problem...
Rico says the functions are assigned to the wrong axes.
So... what do do? Assign them to the correct axis! :)
Click on the function name, e.g. "Steering" then click on the axis that you want to assign to Steering.
Also, make sure you have "combined axes" or "separate axes" set the same in your wheel settings and in LFS. Preferably separate axes. Combined axes is just an old function for old games. For some unknown reason, Logitech still use "combined" as the default.

If I assign the nr 1 axis to the steering, and the nr 2 axis to the brake then the brake works fine, but then I have no axis for the throttle.
Where to I set the combined or seperate axes in lfs?

I've posted this elsewhere, but this sounds like a related issue:
With a new install of 0.5V, I can set the throttle and brake to non-default (seperate) axis, which show fine in the bottom right when pushed. In play, however, it just uses the default ones :( Other re-assigned buttons work ok.

Where to I set the combined or seperate axes in lfs?The fourth line down from the top in the Controls screen :
Throttle / brake axes : (combined / separate / buttons)
You need either combined or separate depending on your wheel's settings.
Better make sure LFS and wheel are both set to separate, because we are in the 21st century now. :)

If you can see the correct axes moving in the controls screen, then the same axes should be moving in-game. I've never heard that not to be the case.

*Some wheels do not support seperate pedals in which case they won't work correctly if LFS is set to use seperate pedals.

Found a compromise, if I set the throttle to "buttons" instead of seperate it lets me use them, but then they only work as digital. Its probably a driver thing, but I can live with it - the analogue effect on my XBox Saitec wheel padles not much use anyway (glass half full and all that ;)).
