Sure hope someone out there can help me.
I've downloaded many skins for all cars and put them in the skin folder.
They don't show up in the online game list.
I've typed in the names under the NEW heading and they show up
on the game list but the skin still doesn't show on the car when selected.
Now i'll admit i'm not the smartist rock in the pile and that's why i'm
asking for some help here.
Thanks a heap if you can show me the way.

erm, if you have auto skin d'load switched on, they are downloaded automatically to your skins-x folder so they appear when you are online racing. Are we talking s2 full apha here?

Yes Al,auto is turned on and I can see them on other players cars.
What I want to know is how I get them on mine instead of the default game skins.

Just import them from skins-x folder to skins-folder.

It can be a bit confusing.
The thing you type in is the name of a "colour config" - not the skin itself. The colour config then contains the name of a skin, which you must select, by clicking the buttons shown in this attached screen shot.

Holy f! Scawen: Coder, Plumber AND dermatologist! :D
and concerning the skins of the skins_x folder: search for those skins on the forums, because the ones you download in game are 512x512 pixels large. If they are for public download you can usually get them at 1024x1024 pixels, wich just looks better.
Also, some skins are not meant for public use, so be carefull when you use skins with team-tags, driver names or racing numbers. Someone might get upset, if you borrow the skin.

OK,I transferred a skin from the x-skin folder to the skin folder.
typed in NEW name then clicked ok.
clicked on name in list.
Same Default Skin on the car???????

Pleased you got there in the end! :) Sorry about that obscure interface. It's probably time to make that one work a lot more intuitively.
I don't know if that's documented anywhere, as we don't have an official manual yet.
Quite a lot of things are documented in the online LFS Wiki (also available as a PDF) :
http://lfs-old.4players.de:1043/lfswiki/
And there is ShannonN's manual as well (written for the old S1) :

I feel honored, help right from the TOP.
You don't know how good it feels to get info or a little help
from a dev himself.
Much appreciated my friend.
