hi everyone,

new racer here. and proud owner of a g25 wheel also. i read a little about that reverse gear problem. unfortunately i got the very same problem. and even more unfortunately i never found any solution for this.
so come on, can all of you apply every gear properly?
the mechanics seem to work perfectly. i can totally feel the stick being moved down ("under the 6th gear").
i found some pics about how to open the shifter... i don't wanna do that unless absolutely nessesary. also, they don't show what to look for!

please, someone find a solution. because besides that, the wheel is perfect!

thanks a lot,

mike

p.s. logitech support was no help either. here's what they wrote to me: Dear Mr. *******,

Thank you for contacting Logitech's Electronic Technical Support.

I understand that you that the reverse gear is not working on the Logitech G 25 Racing wheel. I apologize for the issue you are experiencing.

I would like to inform you that the reverse gear of the Logitech G25 Racing wheel is designed in such a manner that the reverse gear will not be detected within the game controller. However, the gear will get active and work properly within the game when used. Also I would like to inform you that currently only the following games are supported by the G25 Racing wheel: GTR 2, rFactor and Live for Speed.

Also I would like to inform you that you will not be able to put the reverse gear unless and until you press straight down on the shifter handle while you move the shifter into the 6th gear position. Please press the gear a bit inside and then try changing the gear to reverse gear and you should be able to change the gear to reverse without hassles.

If the issue persists or should you have any other queries, please do not hesitate to write back to me.

If you have any additional questions regarding your product, please feel free to visit our website at http://www.logitech.com (http://www.logitech.com/)

Kind Regards,

Well, it seems my G25 is suffering from the same dreaded reverse problem too now.

It was fine at first, yet all of a sudden it doesnt recognise reverse gear anymore...

I can see it goes into the correct slot, cause the sticks sits lower in R than it does in 6th.. But it just says 6th gear no matter what I try

I'd send it back for a replacement but I am kind of reluctant to do so, with my luck I'd end up with one of them that has left rotation über-noise, or shoddy finishing on paddles or leather etc.. (somehow I never get lucky with hardware, always something wrong)
And apart from this my unit is perfect aswell..

I read about opening it and fixing the problem... does anyone know if this can be done without anyone over at logitech spotting my DYI work? Or will I forfeit my warranty when I try to (careful and sensibly) fix it myself?

Edit: oh.. and welcome aboard mike

If its faulty send it back, you may only occationally use the reverse gear but you paid for a defect free unit, not a faulty one.

Or if you feel like voiding the warranty, its not too difficult to have the unit apart and check the microswitch.

So if I opened the shifter the warranty is already voided? :( Arrr damn it, maybe they wont realise it :x

This happend to me last night, but i then i went to controler setup and found out that there was no button assigned to Reverce any more. Reaplied it, and all was fine.

Just a thought

@all
thanks for your posts.

@Rtsbasic
of course we could send the unit back. but as it was said before, we might end up getting a new one which is even worse... kind of a high risk for such a minor(but still annoying) problem.
do you know for sure that it is just a microswitch problem which can be solved via DIY?

@Pig
our problem is: we can't assign a button to the "reverse gear slot". it just recognizes that slot as "6th gear"

let's hope we find a definate solution soon!!!
bye,

mike
