Yep, very enjoyable couple of races for me, although maybe it should have been called the XFR league ;).

Never the less, 6th in the sprint and 4th in the main race was a pretty decent result for the lowly UFR :), see you all next time :).

Looks like my times are pretty consistant, wonder if thats a good or bad thing...., also, just goes to show you how much faster the XFR is, well over 10kph faster on the top end :banghead:

I know I'll find out soon enough, but just wondering what kinda lap times people are running at the Westhill International track?

Should be a lot of fun in these cars, and drafting/slipstreaming (depending how much time you've spent in NASCAR ;)) is gonna be the key I guess...... Also, with all the sweeping corners, it's gonna eat tyres, so think I'm gonna have to work on that a bit.....

kalle

A quick look at the LFS World and it seems that people are doing 1:46.xx-1:50.xx times. Most of them bit under the 1:50 margin like mine.

I'm really worried about my tyres aswell. And like that's not enough, the walls are awfully close there too :scared:

Kalle, R3's will last in the sprint race, but you need to be conservative on them, no locks ups.

Feature race, you may need to adjust your pit stratergy a little, like changing tyres that are, say 35% waisted. and refuel to last.

I am only saying this ( due to UFR experience ) but Westy does play havoc on our tyres :)

I havent recieved any info for tonights race yet, unless it is the same as last week.

Kalle, yeah, its a tough track, forget Hotlaps, on this track with a few racers hotlaps dont really mean to much.

As Fordie says, R3's will be fine, but it is true about pit strategy, I lost a lot of places on Mondays ESL UK league due to my poor pit strategy.

See you tonight ;)

The password and the server are same in all four race days unless otherwise said. The server will open about 10-15 mins before the qualify start time (20:00CEST). Be there atleast couple minutes before because the qualifying starts precisely at 20:00CEST.

Another thing: I haven't seen anyone this week doing some laps at westhill, it would be nice to have something like a trainings server or so, or lets say a time where we could meet and practice.

I personally wouldnt say that any penalty needs to be applied, but its not my league, as you say it was a mistake and you didnt gain any advantage.

I just wanted to make sure this rule still applied or had been waived, otherwise I might try XFR on some tracks ;).

Good races last night, marred by some pretty hefty lag, not sure why :(.
Still a reasonable result, got hit twice on the first race by lag, had some excellent close racing and position swapping with Kalle, and Stocky on both races :).
As for a longer term, I would be well up for that, there is some very nice, close and friendly racing to be had.
Also, I would like to extend my thanks to T7R for loaning as the server for last night ;)

If you need a lag free server with a max of 16 drivers...we can use mine... :thumb:

But Aston National and UFR/XFR are a very good combination...

How's things looking with this little league, any chance it may develop into something longer-term? Maybe. The biggest thing that I have no server to use after the next race, if that solves than season 2 is a possibility.

Hey, you can have one server of ours for the league !! You have only to say when the server is used. I think it's no problem for our team ;)

Sorry about last night, I solved my FPS problem now though - my CPU had underclocked itself to 1.1Ghz instead of its usual overclocked 1.7Ghz (from an XP1700+ 1.46Ghz at stock, a fine boost)

POSSIBLE RULE CHANGES

-Main Race lenght is set to 45 minutes (5mins longer)
-No mandatory pitstop in Main Race

>gives more freedom for your race strategy -go slower and don't do a pitstop or vice versa

What you all think? I want to hear your suggestions. Should some track be dumped or replaced to some another one, two or three week break between this season and the next one (first race 27th October or 3rd November), rule changes?

But still one race to go in this season, will 3J continue the domination, who takes the 2nd spot in the championship :)

I would hate to see the Mandatory pitstop dropped, as this always adds that little unexpected excitment in to a race.

Maybe do what the DTM is now doing, have 2 mandatory pitstops :smileypul

How about adding 1 more round, keep it nice and even numbers :) and add a FE track, Green / gold on the end.

Apart from that, looks like an Exciting Season 2

Well, I am VERY happy that there will be a continuationj of this league, I have enjoyed it very much, will be nice to see Fordie in the last race, as long as he wont use the damn XFR .

Tracks look good to me,as Fordie says the addition of FE would be a bonus, not sure why you would want to extend the main race, I thought 40 mins was good.

I would say that the removal of the mandatory pit is a bad thing, having a pit means its not ALL just about racing, but the pit is there to mix it up a bit, my opinion, keep the pit.

Apart from that I look forward to season 2, and also look forward to maintaining my 3rd place spot after the final race :), see you all on Thursday night ;).

We need to think of a catchy name for this League.

How about:

WERL - World Electronic Racing League
WETL - World Electronic Touring League
UXRL - (short for XFR / UFR) Racing League?

Better explain what I was after there. The reason for the 5 mins addition > 2-3 laps more > riskier to finish the race without doing any stop with the same setup as people used this season. Damn I explained it so much better to Dan earlier, now I don't find the right words :D but I guess you get the idea. This is based to my experience with XFR, my setups and races. So it would be quite likely that people still do pitstops, but those wouldn't be forced ones.

From what I understood of my chat with Kalle about the pitstop is this.

As the main race is being extended by 5 mins, this will effectively "force" a pitstop anyway, because 45 mins on 1 set of tyres is very difficult, so there is more scope for strategy, sorta makes sense to me, although I would still prefer to see a mandatory stop ;).

So you are extending the race length so people will have to pit to change tyres, but they may run the risk of not changing tyres if they wish. Is that what you are saying?

Do you really want them to run the risk? What if, there caused an accident because of naff tyres due to not pitting as they "thought" they could do it:scratchch

well, the race on aston national was the only one where you could race the whole distance with one set of front tires.....

I'm for extending the race to 45 mins and keep a mandatory pit.

Also, just another thing to throw into this, is it worth keeping it an XFR/UFR league?, I can imagine the turnout for next season for the UFR will be less than this season, heck we only had 2 UFR drivers in this season!!!, the UFR is just not a popular car, not to mention a HECK of a lot slower than the XFR.

Do you really want them to run the risk? What if, there caused an accident because of naff tyres due to not pitting as they "thought" they could do it:scratchchNo, bad choice of words from me there. What I want is to give a choice for the drivers, lets say there are Mark and Joe compiting in the league. Mark decides to go in aggressive way and makes fast good setup where tyres last for 15 laps (in 20 laps race) so he drivers in his limits and does 1.46.xx laps in race and does a pitstop. But Joe feels that he's not that kind of drivers and he's in his best when he does constant lap times (high 1.47.xx) for a long period and he doesn't do mistakes. He makes his setup that way that he is bit slower and has harder tyres but he doesn't do pitstop. End results might be quite even with different strategies.

Also, just another thing to throw into this, is it worth keeping it an XFR/UFR league?, I can imagine the turnout for next season for the UFR will be less than this season, heck we only had 2 UFR drivers in this season!!!, the UFR is just not a popular car, not to mention a HECK of a lot slower than the XFR.Quite true.

Possible league names then :P
