I recently opened up LFS to have this message appear on screen
Error initialising: SOUND
My LFS has no sound now due to this. The sound is clearly not working. Anyone have the solution?

Search through the forum for this problem. IIRC it has something to do with WaveOut WinXP codecs - there is a fix posted somewhere. Or just upgrade to Test Patch U30 which uses DirectSound output:)

There is a solution which is supposed to work...

It looks like people in that thread have their windows sounds broken aswell. My windows sounds still work.

Did you check whether other games/apps have sound? Your sound driver might broke down.
Also try to upgrade to a newer release of DX, which might broke also.
EDIT: And just BTW, my windows sound also worked(not fully, but worked) when thoise WaveOut codecs died.

I was replying in just as much detail as the OP gave of his problem.

Amazingly I went on LFS yesterday and the message didn't come up, when it got to the menu screen sound was working. It's fixed itself. Thanks for the help guys.
