Set "Throttle / Brake axes" to "separate"
To assign a axis, first click on the function you want to assign (left side, e.g. "Brake"), then click on the axis you want to assign it to (right side, "Slider 1" on my wheel).

did that, no avail, i realized that it says logitech g25 on the top right of your screen, it doesnt in mines, heres what it looks like now when i did what you said:

Okay, when you press your pedals, do some of the sliders on the right side move? If not, maybe your wheel isn't plugged in correctly and/or you haven't installed the Logitech drivers properly (or not at all)? I suspect the latter might be the cause, as otherwise LFS should display the wheels name, as you have pointed out already :)

I also just saw that there are two "Slider 1" axes, no idea why the G25 reports those two dead sliders. Try pressing your pedal to see which axis is actually the brake axis, and then assign it accordingly. On my system the brake is actually axis 2 (as you can see on the screenshot).

By the way, which version of LFS are you running?

E: And don't give up on LFS that fast, damnit! :) I just recently got my G25, and for me it worked pretty much out of the box, but that's maybe because I'm used to setting up LFS. Just try setting up netKar Pro. Now that is a pain ;)

When you start up LFS, on the main screen to the right of the "exit" button you can see the LFS version - just so you can make sure ;)

Oh, okay. Very strange that someone who must be used to the pain of editing countless ini files gives up on the slightest hurdle.

Whatever, this thread can be closed then...

(also moved thread to tech. ass. since there's no problem with the hardware, the user just hasn't configured the game properly... and edited the thread title for clarity)

I used to have Momo Force Racing, the black Momo, which worked fine, but the new G25 behaves exactly like original posters. I cannot associate my pedals to any controls in the game. Well, I guess I'll try uninstall, delete folders and then reinstall.

Are you sure you have installed the Logitech Profiler version 5.00, that came with the G25? As you had a Momo before, I guess you could still be running the old 4.60 drivers.

G25 brake and throttle problem.

I am running version S2 0.5U with a G25 FFB wheel.

I installed the Logitech Progiler Version 5.00 that came with the wheel.

Everything works great except that I want Throttle and brake to have seperate axis.

My control page does not have "Logitech G25 Racing wheel" on it like it does on AndroidXP's .jpg

When I use combined axis the brake and throttle use the RZ axis. And like I said it works. But when I click Seperate, I cannot get them to work. I am unable to assign them to another axis. They both still use the RZ axis. When you press the brake or throttle it still moves the RZ axis but nothing happens.

Can anyone think what I am doing wrong?

Thanks

For easier reference, you must uncheck "Report Combined Pedals" ;)

My solution was to edit the cfg.txt file with notepad as follows:
STR Axis 0
CMB Axis 0
THR Axis 1
BRK Axis 2
CLUTCH Axis 4

Axes work as they should, but the game just does not let me map the pedals into those controls. So editing the file manually was needed.

Yes, the first thing I did was to install the gaming software from the cd, which uninstalled the older version, and only after that I plugged in the G25. Version is now 5.00.182.

Very strange. Did you try the U30 test patch yet? I'm using it, so that might be the reason it doesn't work properly for you in your LFS installation

AndroidXP,

I hate to ask but...

Where is that specific game setting page that you are showing. I have never seen it before (which could be just one of many of my problems).

Thanks

btw AndroidXP, is there a way to manually enter the degrees of steering?
I constantly try to put slider (in lfs and the profiler) on the same degrees, but I never succeed.

Davo

In the profiler it jumps a few degrees at a time, not sure how to get it go 1 by 1. In lfs just right click on the silder and enter the value :)

AndroidXP
2nd December 2006, 14:15
In the profiler you're out of luck. What I do is put it completely to one side (40° or 900°), then click on the trackbar which moves the slider in 15° steps, and then use the left and right arrow key to "finetune" in 5° steps.

In LFS, you can simply right-click the slider and enter the value manually.

OK. I went into the specific game setting and tried un-checking the "report combined pedals". I went back to the LFS control screen. click seperate axis for brake/throttle. Now I am unable to assign an axis. I click on brake, then hit the brake to assign it and nothing happens. I have played with several different configs in the game setting page and cannot get it to work. Now I cannot even get it to work combined.

Why does my LFS control page not say G25 wheel on it?

Help.

Thanks

You probably need to update to the latest (U30) test patch. backup your lfs just in case, but I've found it very stable and works fine with the G25 and the text shows up :)

U30 patch? Is that different than just the U patch? My version says S2 0.5U.

Yes.

998M
3rd December 2006, 13:20
It said it was for dedicated servers so I am not sure why it might work but I am willing to try anything at this point. I am not even sure I was able to get the patch to load correctly. It opened a little window that said name already in use and then did nothing.

But it did not fix it.

Should I just remove LFS and Logitech profiler and start over?

Any other thoughts?

Thanks

Nope the dedicated server is another thing all together. Goto http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=9869 or download http://www.liveforspeed.net/file_lfs.php?name=LFS_U30_TEST.zip PATCH Its a zip file with LFS.exe and the data, docs folder etc. Extract this to LFS directory and overwirte everything. This will give you test patch U30 LFS. You will have to reassign all your controls.

998M
3rd December 2006, 18:17
OK. U30 patch is on. title screen is saying 0.5u30. So that is good. G25 is showing on the control page. But no sliders are moving when I press the brake or throttle. I reinstalled logitech 5.o profiler. During its test part the pedals worked. Started LFS and they don't. Went back to profiler and tried several combinations of turning the "combined pedals" on and off. Still nothing. Any other thoughts?

Thank you. I appreciate your help.

Combined pedals should be off and seperate axes shouold be selected in LFS. Are you saying the sliders on the right dont move at all? How about when moving the wheel?

Make sure you're in the Axes / FF menu and on the right it will have available axes. There should be like 8 or so of them and when move the wheel or press the pedals they should move. You need to assign these axes to the functions of steering, throttle, brake and clutch before they do anything in game.

romus74
3rd December 2006, 20:17
998: why don't you just try what I did and edit the cfg.txt file to force the LFS use your pedals for correct controls. I could not either use the user interface to map my pedals, but got them working as I wanted after manually editing the configuration file. The game still does not report my wheel as a G25, actually it does nor report any name to it. I havenīt installed the U30 patch yet.

998M
3rd December 2006, 20:36
Sorry. I shoul dhave been more clear. combined pedal is off. Seperate is clicked. I am on the asix/FF menu. When I turn the wheel the top slider moves but I cannot get a slider to move for the clutch, throttle or brake. I have been able to assign them in the past but I cannot now. Not even when I go back to combines pedals. No slider moves for any of the three pedals. No matter what combination I make in LFS or the Logitech profiler.

romus74: I opened the cfg.txt in the LFS folder. What am I looking for? In a prevoius post you mentioned the following:
STR Axis 0
CMB Axis 0
THR Axis 1
BRK Axis 2
CLUTCH Axis 4

I do not see anything like this in my cfg.txt

So I was thinking of maybe removing the Logitech profiler and LFS and starting over. But when I went to "add remove programs" LFS is not listed. Now that I look, it is not even listed in the start button - all programs. How do I remove it and start over? Just delete the LFS folder? That doesn't seem like an appropriate delete.

Any thoughts?:scratchch

As LFS is "installed" by just unzipping it into a folder, it is "uninstalled" by just deleting that folder again.

However, it would be enough to simply rename the current folder LFS is located in, and make a new "install" of LFS in a different directory. It has EXACTLY the same result as deleting would have, because LFS has NO registry entries whatsoever.

btw, you might be misuderstanding how to assign. you dont just hit brake, then actually physically depress the brake pedal. after you hit the brake button on the in game menu option thing, press the brake pedal and see which axis moves, then click the number beside that. it doesnt work in other games, whereas you just press it in game then physically do it, you have to click the number.

btw, im knackered, and only skimmed the topic. if you already know how to do that, just ignore me.

If in doubt - start over.

I renamed the old LFS (so I still have my old car setups, right? :) )

Extracted LFS U into a new folder. Added the U30 test patch. And bingo... Everything is working. BTW I uninstalled the Logitech profiler and have not reinstalled it. I may not if I can get the FFB to work like I want.

Also, I went from a frame rate of 70 to 95. An even better picture.

Great suggestion for just renaming original LFS folder.

One last question. Can I just copy all of my old settings in the old "settings" folder over to the new "settings" folder?

Again , thank you all for your help. See you on the track...

Well I didnīt know that, and somehow I feel that I did not have to do that with the older Momo Racing. Cannot test now, since I have unplugged the G25.
