It has a ridiculous price already for the countless hours of entertaiment you'll get. I have 2 s2 licenses, one for me and my other for my little brother. Best cash spent ever.
In my opinion is underpriced software.

Well for me LFS is the most underpriced game there is eg look at the xbox 360 in the uk it can cost upto £50 for NFSC and that is without tech support and new patches for better gameplay so you are lucky to get lfs for the price it is now and it does not cost an arm and a leg to run on any pc

Ok, it's kind of hard to read your broken English, but correct me if I'm wrong.
Are you saying that you and some friends of yours in the French community are not happy with the way the last twenty or so patches have been implimented into LFS, and that you all plan giving away your liscence's?

Well, i'm sorry to hear of how unhappy you all are, but Rome wasn't built in a day, and there are better approaches to be taken when trying to get your point across to the dev's! Stating in a thread made by a demo user hoping to buy a liscence that you and friends of yours will be giving your liscences away because you are bored is one approach I would steer clear of.

You come to very many conclusions, friend.
And all this because you failed to update your apps/scripts for the new pubstats (http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=14880)? I thought that was the last we were going to hear about this since you asked Scawen to lock that thread...
This topic is about the original poster's "how long will it take me for to get out there and start racing?" question - not about why you are not pleased with something that you didn't do when you were warned about it beforehand multiple times.

Holy shit, man! Let Scawen do his thing. You didn't buy a slave for £24, you bought a game in ALPHA stage, and you were made well aware of the situation before buying. You raced online loads probably (hundreds of hours) and enjoyed it loads, so its not like you haven't enjoyed the game.
What's more, you don't seem to understand that the work in patch U -> V HAD to be done so Scawen can focus on the core of LFS for the next few patches before S2 final. The time between incompatible updates has to be kept minimal so that people don't think that Scawen has disappeared with the money. Scawen's hard at work on LFS right now (he mentioned 10 hour days, ;) ), I can assure you that - it doesn't matter that its not the work you want done. A solid, stable, polished version V will be released in the next few weeks and after that, everything will go silent for a few months while Scawen works on an incompatible version.
You claim you were such a fan. Surely, you know the drill by now - compatible work = people complaining about the updates not being on the core, incompatible work = people complaining about the lack of updates. Why can't people just be happy for a change?

Why can't people just be happy for a change?
Do you want an alphabetical list or will arbitrary order be acceptable? :P
Gwendoline, I understand that you really like LFS (you've done 143034km according to the stats - which means that you've really played this game ALOT) but perhaps you just need to take a break for a while? What you're feeling is probably a bonk - you've overraced yourself ... so just take it easy for a while.
Also, if you want the devs to respond (http://www.liveforspeed.net/?page=mailus) you'd probably need to get someone to translate any email you want into English - that way you'll avoid misunderstandings and make it easier to communicate.

I dont critik game and concept...we are just tired to wait too long time too watch game speed evolution.
i drive often for settling servers and lapper experiments and already leagues.
I've always work to increase french LFS community and give my passion for LFS at all before.

I've always work to made events around LFS to turn it more attractive and amazing.

Gwendoline, it's so easy to contact us, it's quite unbelievable that you could be complaining. We are probably the most easy game developers to contact, in the world.
Victor already explained to you that if you have any problem at all with the pubstats, you can make a post here :
http://www.lfsforum.net/forumdisplay.php?f=78
Your email to tech support was just saying something like, how can you contact Victor if he has turned off mails. Victor has stopped doing technical support so he has turned off forum emailing. And there is no need to contact him directly, because you can use the forum.
We are obviously still here answering all sensible questions.
And I've already posted links in your previous thread, full of repeated explanations about the test patches and why they are necessary.

It's very boring seeing the same old questions again.
Programming takes time, we don't give time estimates but we are working hard to finish LFS S2. Just think - however much you want it out, I want it more. Maybe it's a big part of your life. So try to think, how big a part of my life is LFS? And do I really need to be told that it should be done faster? We are working full time on it.
It is so boring to be told that it should be faster. If you know how to make a game faster, then make one yourself. Otherwise you will just have to trust us that this is how long it takes. And no, we are not going to hire loads of staff and start up a company. We are happy working this way - that's why we are doing it! And it's producing good results.
If it's failing completely, that means there are a lot of much better sims out there, so why not use one of those instead?
Scawen

Firstly you're trying to speak for everyone here, by saying "We". You should be using "I".
Secondly, LFS is much bigger than it was then. The devs can't just say "oh well, forget development on this now, we've got to make a surprise for Christmas!"
If you'd just take the time to read some of Scawen's posts, you'll understand that the development course he's currently taking makes all the sense in the world in terms of bringing S2 to final as quickly as possible, and as a solid piece of software.

Install patch U30, and patch U, count the months between these 30 patches, and tell me development has stopped.
Scawen has had to spend a minimal amount of time removing the aero hack, but other than that, security still isnt a major issue for the player base.

Actually you already got the full version, but its locked down to DEMO. When you buy a s2 lisence you get a code, wich you use it to unlock s2 content.

The only goals for a release are content related, not time related.
S2 final is hardly "right around the corner". Although tbh I don't know what other features are really planned for it beyond V and W patches.
Don't expect S2 final within the next 6 months. S3 would be years away, emphasis on the plural there.

S2 final will be here in no less than half a year. Then no less than a year and a half before S3 I'd say - but probably more like 2-3 years. No need to worry about that. :)

Okay first, I really wouldn't call S2 Final "around the corner". It will still take some time - my personal guess is like half a year to year. S3... well don't even think about it yet. Do not expect it within the next two years at least! Not even the developers know when LFS will be finished, so the only answer you will get from them is "When it's done." ;)
To the second part, if you have the LFS demo installed, then you already have everything in place. The demo contains already everything from the full version, the only difference is that this content is locked as long as you are in "demo mode". If you buy S2, you'll get an unlock code bound to a fixed user name by email. This can then be entered within LFS to unlock it and allow the S2 content to be accessed.
:)

Yes, the only "mods" out there are relatively minor things, mostly eyecandy or helper tools like pitspotter. You won't be excluded from any servers because of missing mods, if you mean something like that ;)
For the beginning, just enjoy LFS at its purest form. It's perfectly fine to run LFS without any mods at all. Personally I only have a few texture updates installed, pretty much everything else is stock - and I'm playing this game since four years now, so it's not like you need any mods.

Hey DjeMz,
How you doin'.
By the way, don't forget to keep your head down while the Big Boyz here are busy throwin' chairs across the room at each other! :hide: :D
Anyway, I thought I could give you an idea of how the game is for someone like me who's just recently bought an S2 license after trying the demo.
Well, what can I say. If you liked the demo you really will enjoy S2.
To be perfectly honest, I know its called S2 and it's revision 'whatever' - soon to become S3 etc. etc., but honestly, don't let that bother you. The simple fact is, whatever they call it, it's already a good game; no, actually its already a VERY good game, and as someone who's just started I've found that exactly where the dev's are at the moment on the progress chart doesn't really affect me. There's more than enough to keep me busy just the way it is and it all seems to work just fine :).
In the short time I've had S2:
I've driven a number of the S1/S2 cars already and they really do all handle differently (I'm really into the LX4 & 6 and the FOX at the moment) and you feel its worth your time and effort getting to know them.
I've noticed that, to me at least, the tracks look and feel right. It's hard to describe but as 'detailed' as other sims I've tried have been, I still felt like I was in video game. Some people have said other games feel a bit 'cartoony' compared to LFS and I know what they mean. Anyway, if you've been 'round Blackwood you probably know what I mean and the other tracks are just as good, if not better.
Racing on line with other S2 players is a blast. You race, you talk, you swap setups, you spectate (even sit yourself in other player's cars to try and figure how they go so damn fast! :D) and there's a good community feel to it. Oh, and you crash of course, but as long as you don't behave like a complete numpty and say sorry when you mess up taking a few others out with you, you'll find the other racers don't get toooo upset ;).
I've hosted one or two sessions on-line myself and visited a number of others. As host you can set up the tracks and cars to participate the way you want and its nice when others 'come to play in your back yard' so to speak. You've probably visited others on the demo or maybe even hosted yourself ([THINKS] can you on the demo? - can't remember) - anyway if you have you probably know what I mean.:)
I've looked with admiration at other peoples car skins and although I haven't done so yet, it's nice to know that you can personalise the look of your cars if you want to, so there's a whole new 'scene' there as well if you want it.
And last but not least, the game has never crashed on me. No, really. No freezes, no blue screens of death, no dumps to desktop (which I have to say, I have experienced with other sims recently :().
So, overall, lots of feel-good factor and bang for your buck.
Anyway, I hope this has eased any anxieties you may have had. (Is it safe to come out from under the table yet? :smileypul Yes, I think so!)
So, license up, relax and enjoy :).
Hope to see you on the S2 servers soon :thumb:.

from the main lfs site:
"Paypal payments are usually instant, except for eCheck and bank transfer, which take some days to be 'Cleared'."
Later, after the payment is made, it says something like possibly a 3-7 day delay in 'clearing money'.
I think it depends on weather u are using a credit card or bank account though paypal.

Your payment should be instant, unless the payment type you used at paypal resulted in a so called 'pending e-check', which takes about a week to clear. This normally only is the case with debit cards like Visa Electron.
Using a credit card (any Mastercard or Visa) on our website directly is always instant though.

whats the deal with credits?Credits were removed quite some time ago. It's not sure whether they'll ever come back, but it's not like they made much sense to begin with.

if you used a credit card at paypal, then you could cancle that payment and make a payment on our website directly instead, which will be instant.
Or wait :D

How long would it take by Homing pigeon I wonder....no I don't. Forget that.
@gwendoline Dude I'm gonna have to learn French cause your english translations are really rough :)
Anyways, Yeah after three years, this game gets as boring as hell sometimes and No there's not going to be anything overly exciting in the next patch for you, me and about half the other people that's been playing from about 2004 and longer. In fact, unless the next patch has like the rally thing or something, it's just not going to be anything spectacular.
And you knew before hand, just like the rest of us that it would get this way during the course of it's development. I mean sure, you can blow it off if you want, but you could also go find something else to occupy your time til something you'd define as a real "easter egg" comes along. Or you could keep posting those badly translated complaints I guess :thumb:
oh and speaking of easter eggs, you know, flaming trash cans........

That dude Gwend, he has to learn that it takes some time to get things done, im new but i played demo a lot and i didnt get bored, sometimes i wanted some new things but i waited and when they came out i was very happy and ready to play, im still on learning process and i dont get bored so plz wait and dont tell that bad things to the developers, you should wait for new versions and if you are bored go and do something else.
Now going to the point DjeMz man! tell me when you get the S2 i always wanted to teach something to the new dudes :D
(Sorry for the bad english xD)

PS Victor, i am tryin to get our own sub forum for LFS in www.nissansilvia.com (http://www.nissansilvia.com) (aus largest car forum), as previously mentioned, i HAD 4-5 ppl who were going to buy s2, that has now increased to 15+ and seems to be growing faster then a plague!
If you want to be involved in an Aussie LFS forum there is already one at http://arse.norbtech.com/phpBB/viewforum.php?f=13 :thumb:

This normally only is the case with debit cards like Visa Electron.
I paid for my S2 license with a Visa Electron card and it had cleared the funds and gone through in a matter of minutes. Maybe I got lucky though :)

Welcome to S2 :wave23d:
As you can see from this (http://www.lfsworld.net/?win=hosts&whichTab=licensed_history&t=1) chart, LFS licensed racers are the most active at around 21:00 UTC. Considering that most LFS servers are located in Europe and you live in Australia, you should probably try to find some servers hosted by the Australian racing community so you get acceptable pings.
