I think it would be nice to be able to have destruction derbies. The track would only have to be a dirt circle or box and the last car still able to move wins. The cars could be stripped down, low powered versions of what we have now. I know it isn't very popular in Europe, but it is still tons of fun to watch people smash eachothers cars into bits.

Like the concept, but open your mind, we do it already, and it doesnt have to be mud :)

We would need mechanical failures for that to work. Besides, we already got enough fun for the rednecks(You know what i mean).

XFG's or XFR's on Blackwood car park is the best place for DD if you do not believe try it with about 15 people so much fun if you have all the people on teamspeak pi**ing themselfs with laugher

all you godda do is not brake for t1 and you have yourself a derby full of distruction... and people shouting, nooob, brake, plz restart!

I dont think LFS is suited for destruction derby.. LFS is mean to be a sim with the most realistic physics ever! is destruction debry realistic? banger racing maybe but even that would just be very silly now!

is destruction debry realistic? Not only is it realistic, it actually takes place in real life. If it fits in with the whole LFS philosophy is a completely different question.

I don't think it does (but I'm probably completely misinformed) I've never seen or heard of a big ring/pit with cars smashing into each other like this in anything other than a computer game. I'm sure there are variants of conventional banger racing that run a last man standing approach but that is still lapping a track/no head on impacts.

I've never noticed if every destruction derby suggestion comes from over here in the US. Now after reading some comments here it has me wondering. Destruction Derby in real life is very real over here. I know some folks at work who put very much time and very much money into "junkyard" cars simply to go smash them up in destruction derbies. We also have destruction derby with busses and of course, the figure 8 racing is really cool, especially the school bus figure 8 racing I watched with the kids a few weeks ago on the tube. These are fantastic for the spectators and a staple at the small town fairs and farmshows out here in the north eastern US.

Does the rest of the US have these anual fairs and farmshows? Just three weeks ago I was at the supposedly biggest fair east of the Mississippi River up in north western PA.

oh yea, you just have to look for them usually in a newspaper, there are fairs going on literally.. all the time, you just have to find whatever your looking for really lol, cause there are fairs every weekend just about going on somewhere

This forum can be summed up with 1 word: MADNESS. In this era of ever falling average driving skills and ever degenerating driver attitudes, last thing we need is something that encourages crashing. :(

As if there aren't enough stupid kids wrapping their cars around poles these days. :(

And yes, this is against everything that LFS stands for: good, clean and fun racing.

Banger racing and destruction derbies are very FUN and a welcome change to the serious races once in a while IMO.

And if someone thinks, that he can drive IRL, just like he does in a racing game/simulator, hes lost anyway. :pillepall

Unfortunately, I've seen all too many young adults (over 21 years old!) that STILL believe that RL cars handle the same way as NFS:U cars do. Has a LOT to do with why kids these days wrap their dad's Porsche/Subaru around metal poles. :(

And, yes, i've seen a friend of a friend of mine who drives like it's NFS:U. He could'nt even keep the car straight whilst upshifting. And yes, he drives cars like they're stolen. Glad me and my friend had only been his passengers once and lived to tell the tale!
