I was going to post this in the Leagues & Events sub-forum, but this could be interesting to quite a lot of people and probably wouldn't be seen much in there.
Tonight is the final round in the third season of the Vixen Challenge (http://www.vixenchallenge.co.uk/). The whole round will be viewable online on a video stream hosted by fireball, who some of you may know from OLFSL.
The round will consist of qualifying, running from 1915-1945 BST, a 15 minute sprint race, starting at approximately 1955 BST and a 45 minute feature race, starting at around 2020 BST.
We will be racing at FE Gold in the Formula XR, and if the rest of the season is anything to go by, there should be some interesting battles throughout the field.
This could be a good opportunity for those of you who like watching OLFSL to check out the new video codec and see what you think of it.
If you want to watch the feed, please check fireball's simple instructions to get the correct codec etc here (http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=217950#post217950).
I will add a link to the stream later on, qualifying will start in around 3hrs 45mins from now.
Edit: here (http://www.timeanddate.com/counters/customcounter.html?day=19&month=09&year=2006&hour=18&min=15) is a countdown to qualifying
Stream will be up at around 1830 UTC / 1930 BST / 2030 CEST, the link will be http://87.117.194.93:8020/.

Yeah I'm kinda presuming that the master server will be up, obviously the feed won't be available if we aren't racing though :).

There will be a link available pointing to a winamp playlist containing the stream, you could also paste the stream address into Winamp's "Open URL" box (CTRL-L).

Ok the stream will be online in around 25 minutes. That means the first 15 mins of qualifying will be missed, but that shouldn't be too exciting anyway. The last 15 mins of quali and the whole of the two races should be shown.
The link will be http://87.117.194.93:8020/ (then click "listen" - even though it's video)
Thanks, Josh

Is it ridiculously laggy for everyone else?

very, very nice commentary! very enthusiastic even in the 'not so important' backfield battles!
edit: bit laggy,yes...
Stew2000
19th September 2006, 19:16
will we be able to download it later so we can watch it without lag?

I'm trying to watch but can't get it to work.
Open stream here:
Server 1 (http://87.117.194.93:8020/listen.pls)
offline
Server 2 (http://87.117.194.93:8025/listen.pls)
offline
Server 3 (http://87.117.194.93:8030/listen.pls)
offline
Looks like all the servers are offline. I'm trying to use VLC or Media Player Classic but can't even get a stream to open.
edit: got it working now. apparently VLC wasn't associated with .pls files. I'm running off server #1 which seems to be struggling for bandwidth (increasing VLCs cache helped) and #2/#3 both are passworded. :(

It said for me, that its offline, too. But I cliked it anyway, and it worked. But I have this x264 codec installed, dont know, if its because of this.
The commentary is great as always. Really like it, when fireball goes crazy, everytime someone spins or crashes. :D

is there an official irc channel?
edit: thanks for the GREAT coverage!

I hope you all enjoyed it, you can see race results and seasons standings etc at http://www.vixenchallenge.co.uk. Races didn't go well for me but i just about hung onto the championship anyway. Incase any of you are wondering, misan ran out of fuel with 2 corners to go in the feature after leading the whole race, hence prophet winning.
zeugnimod
19th September 2006, 20:29
That was great and very entertaining coverage and racing. Running out of fuel 2 corners before the finish after dominating the whole race, omg. :D
And the lag got better towrds the end, was very fluent then except the disconnections from the server. :(

Excellent Commentary too :D
