And Free-Roam on the city track!

Guys, please be gentle ;)
The chance for police pursuit and a free roanimg city is, roughly estimated, zero.
These are two features, which belong to a totally different genre of racing games. To be more precise: free-roam: Need for Speed Underground 2. Police Pursuit: Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2.
If you want both in one game, with better driving physics: Any part of GTA.
But honestly, in Live for speed you will never ever see such a feature. You wouldn't ask for that feature in GTR or RBR (both keeping me alive till my account is in the blacks, making me buy S2), would you?

yeah, such thing in a SIM would be nonsense :D

No need for police, racing in LFS is legal. :)
Free roam city track? LFS: The online driving to the shops simulator? Maybe not.

Hmm, LFS devs have made a big mistake...
I can`t use this feature, because the ``step out of the car`` button is hided and non-configurable.
And: You are Demo racer, how do you drive in S1?

The police pursuit is crap but I like the idea of free roam. This is a simulator and the freedom to drive around the city would be a neat feature. It does border on being arcady and probably geared a bit more towards a driving simulator but it would be interesting. You could define your own waypoints and use that as a track to race on.

I agree with nugz a bit on this one. The police chase garbage, No thanks, seriously why? My best possible guess is that some people like the culture of NFSU but those of them who acutally can drive realise they want something vaguely simulation, but sorry bud, LFS is not the game.
As for the free roaming city style track, It would be interesting so you could enjoy driving some of these cars in a cruisey sort of fashion. But more to my liking would be some sort of twisty mountain/country roads. Maybe a track that Is a 10-15K long that starts near the bottom of a mountain and makes its way both up and down. I would like this not because Im with the Initial D style downhill drifting camp (Im not!) but because whenever I really enjoy a drive for real Im always looking for the twisty's... the awesome satisfaction that comes from double clutching on downshift as you brake hard for that tight 40km/h bend just ahead... magical. This I could see in LFS.

i still want to see a fully open city.. mainly just to mess around and test the cars ability.. and just to cruise around
and when you think about it; that would turn the city into an autocross, you could block certain paths and make your own track ;)

agreed :)
i like driving itself, so free roam with downhill and city would be awesome, just to improve driving skills because if don't have a preconfigured track you cannot have studied it before and you see how good you are to quickly learn so to achieve a better understanding of driving/racing in general and not because you have studied the WR hotlap with brake points and lines >_>
also it will allow another kind of racing -> let's define a start point and an arriving point and let's see who gets first choosing any possible path
so: no police, but yes to free roam + downhill :)

i'm with the idea of twisty mountain/country roads like Sketchy said with tunnel thru the mountain, drive over bridge e.t.c. that will be great :thumb: , devs please consider this

The police force in LFS? No thanks. Well.. I'd love to have a police force to take care of the scum in LFS! Like a Wrecker Elimination Force. A wrecker commits his crime and the police chases him down, shunts him off the track with a hydraulic ram and tows him to a closed pitbox. Hooray.
Other than that, those are bad ideas.

I wouldn't want police pursuits, traffic and free roam etc in LFS.
LFS should remain basicly what it is now... but more than anything, I would love a game with these Need for Speed / Grand Theft Auto elements and the physics engine from LFS. Having a game like GTA San Andreas or Need for Speed (the original) with physics from LFS, that would be pure bliss.

IMHO "free run" is basically the same as "BL car park", but just more wide and "rich"...so i don't think it will ruin lfs, instead it will add more fun, when taking some rest from plenty of "serious" races :)

driving on a mountain sounds great to me, especially if it would be a track (point a to point b race).

Police pursuits were a relatively popular thing in S1, just as something to break the tension and have some fun. As far as making it an actual mode, that's a little much, but why shouldn't the devs allow for a free roam ability? If it's a programming issue, then I'll understand, but if it's a "this is a sim" issue, then that's just stupid and ignorant. I agree it's a sim first and a game second, but it still is a game, and if people are going to have little police chases anyway, why not make it a little easier for them to have fun.
I also very much want to see point to point touge racing. It would offer a very different experience and off the drifters an actual course to drift. as opposed to the race tracks that only really offer very high speed drifting.

IIRC, opening up South City was proposed before, and it is a programming issue. I believe all the buildings are only rendered on the side you see, to save systerm resources. Opening up the city would mean that all the buildings and everything would need to be redrawn, and the devs really didn't want to do that. It's not quite as simple as just removing the barriers, unfortunately.

I saw this vid of a LFS police chase in that city track, and I got inspired. It was a terrible idea.

Cops? Enough said so far. Although the idea of Wrecker Police, hunting down and punishing the guilty is a good one :thumb:
A twisty mountain track would be cool. Hillclimbs/time trials in the FOX would be great fun..

we need some enforcers in lfs. like police. :) maybe people getting temporary bans from lfs or permanent if they are chronicly wrecking.
