Did you check to see if that file actually exists?
Did you make a new helmet skin and accidentally rename the default one?

Perhaps you even double clicked the wrong file when trying to save an actual skin, therefore the size difference messing up the game?

That usually means either :

1) You installed a patch (about 1 MB) instead of the full version (over 100 MB).

Or :

2) You have unzipped the full version without preserving directory structure.
