For DFP users who don't know. If you set your wheel to 720 degrees in wingman profiler and to 720 in lfs with steer compensation(0 or 1, probably wont matter here). You will get 720 lock for street cars, n. lock for gtr cars, n. lock for formulas etc. - Just like in game :). Dunno if it works for 900degrees.

DFP @

Cars that use 720 degrees of rotation:
XF GTI, XR GT, XR GT Turbo, RB4 GT, XFO Turbo, LX4, LX6, UF1000, UF GTR, XF GTR, FZ50, Raceabout..

Cars that use 540 degrees of rotation:
XR GTR, XFO GTR, FZ50 GTR

Cars that use 450 degrees of rotation:
Formula XR, Formula V8

Car that uses 270 degrees of rotation:
MRT5

Then I do this:

For whatever car you are using, chose that lock to lock in the DFP control panel..
*You can easily press SHIFT + F4 to jump out of the game while in the pits, set the Logitech control panel, and jump right back in the game.. It takes about 10 seconds time and there is no need to re-calibrate.

Say you are in the FZR- set DFP CP to 540, in game set "wheel turn" setting to 540. Keep "wheel turn compensation" to 0.00.. (always leave wheel turn compensation to 0.00 when doing it this way.
That's it. Then you get true linear steering and take advantage of the FF end stops that the DFP driver gives you. I think the FF feels better too.
http://www.lfsforum.net/showpost.php?p=886&postcount=4

Works great either way really. "Easy way, set and forget" or "The above way to get end stops through FF" Sometimes the FF stops get "stuck" a little bit though.. if you have the FF up enough though.

I have a momo racing too, and Driving force original (same as formula force GP but with more buttons). I think I am going to hook up the DFo for a clutch pedal because the pedals are better than the pedals the Momo racing has.

Side note-

I use 540 for RBR- it's awesome!! That is what those cars really use. if you give it enough FF (full in game, 65 in Logi. CP overall... 0 spring, o damper) It is sweet. You have to set max steering lock to 792 in the setup for all the cars though.

Basically, the DFP rules in all games.

I'll get in on this.

TSW Sport, circa 1998. (Hmm... what would have prompted the move from TM?) I'm dead serious when I say it feels *exactly* like it did the day I got it. 4 or 5 sets of spec pots - TSW sent me some lever arms that they liked better than the stock ones, though I never had a problem - had one spring retainer break after 5 years, TSW replaced that - never misses a shift - a couple drops of oil every couple years - smooth as buttah.

Every once in a while I call to ask if I should upgrade to this or that. So far they've talked me out of spending money I don't need to a couple of times. They are dead honest about what it is thier products will or won't do. When they say a certain pot will last a year, they mean it.

What more can I say?

I own the red Logitech MOMO Force wheel. Too bad this wheel is discontinued, because it is a great wheel in my opinion. Some people don't care much for the pedals, but mine have held up and I always do proper 'tune ups' about every 4 or 5 months (cleaning, replace springs if needed (stiff r/c springs), etc).

It's always a good idea to make sure your wheel is in proper shape. Otherwise you'll find yourself with problems. Maintain it like an airplane so to speak.

You've got yourself a good wheel coming to your door, and you'll definitely enjoy it in LFS. I know quite a few people that own that black momo wheel and i've tried it myself. It works damn good for anyone really.

Indeed it is a great wheel. I have it too, but I'm forced to use the pedals. They work fine for about 6 months, after that all hell breaks loose. I'm thinking about buying Finnmotion pedals.

it's a constant evolution ATM but i'm using a DFP @ 720 with an old sidewinder pedalset making do for the clutch, (highly recomended, clutch use that is!) although i'm planning to convert a FF joystick for shifter use and build a custom pedal box from car spares! LFS is great for messing about with your controllers so you can get them exactly as you want 'em.

If anybody asked me what wheel to go for id always recomend the DFP. seems logitech are still having pedal life issues tho', hence i'm planning ahead and building my pedals while they still work!

I just got my DFP 4 days ago for $109US with shipping :) I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm still experimenting with which degrees of rotation i prefer though, and i auto-clutch, because using a button as a clutch would be even harder than using a real clutch IMO (esp in the middle of turns when you're in the middle of turning the wheel)

the wheel is made of Soft Rubber (feels so good).
ForceFeed back is strong, well, too strong (i play at 15% only, 100% it's nuts!)
The pedals, well... plastic :\
the brakes pedal is harder to push and the Accelerator is soft (just like my car pedals)

Thrustmaster F1 FFB and DFP.

I had to fix the pedals of the Thrustmaster but the wheel itself is of really good quality. Especially the FFB. If i´ll ever get one of those expensive 3 pedal sets or build one myself i´ll use the wheel again. Great for F1 and GT cars.

I got the DFP a few days ago and the 900 ° mode is sooo much fun. The wheel feels and looks great :)

I got one a few months ago- it seems if you get the new Rev. B00 (that is B zero, zero) You get Metal POTS! Mine has metal pots and it is SO much better than my Momo racing wheels.. Pedals are so damn smooth.. Perfect. I beat the hell out of them and they never flinch. If you get a Rev. B00, you should have good luck. (says the rev.# on the manual's plastic bag)

Yes, it does have sequential gear flaps too. I bought mine from a computer store, lot of them sell them but they are hidden in console/ps2 accesories.

i ask because i did not see them in the pictures....

No, they're on the back of the wheel... So there's no way to buy a wheel without the flaps... The good thing is that the flaps and the gear stick have different codes assigned, so you can use them seperately. I use the gear stick for shifting (more realistic in LFS since none of the cars have the wheel flippers), and I use the flaps for indicator lights.

One of the pros of this wheel is the number of buttons, and the software has the option of assigning Cycle commands... So I actually have a button assigned to press "F9 - F10 - F11 - F12 - F12" so I can cycle through the telemetry and pit windows without taking my hands or eyes off the game.

Wow, I cant believe you've got one of those thats still going. I bought one to play GP3 with, back in god knows when. It was pretty good, although eventually the paddles broke off, and the FF got as slack as hell. So I got a black momo, which was much better, and now I've just got a DFP, which is better again.

I use the Logitech Black Momo. I was gonna get a DFP, but the wheel size and the button arrangement scared me off. Plus the pedal design is the same as the black MOMO. If you just HAVE to have that 700°, do you actually use it?
I actually prefer the 270° or whatever turning I have over the more "realistic"
feel the DFP has to offer.
Even though I have posted numerous times in the RSC forums about how much I can't stand the quality of logitech's pedals, I'm gonna do a 180° and praise them :)

See, after playing numerous Racing games/sims, I realized something....
Us LFSers are very demanding on our equipment. In an arcady type game,
the small loss of calibration is seldom noticed, but in LFS, if the pedals are
only giving you 98% output, it WILL cost you the race you're in.
The average Nascar player or NFSU player doesn't experience this loss due to
aids provided in game. Plus the Nascar guys just don't need the performance
levels we do :)

If you're willing to sacrifice the Warranty, there is an easy way to get at the
internal workings of the pedals and get the most performance value out of
them. Unfortunately, I have to do this about every 3 months, yet my pedal
are ALWAYS better than what they were when I first got them a couple a
years ago (lol I should be OK til November :) )

Well to be honest, what I'm getting at is there should be a sticky about pedal maintenance (not just a link to Mozno and that lamer wingteam patch)
Uhh after almost 2 years of dealing with this issue I've narrowed down the problem of my pedals to a single item. Next time I have to overhaul my pedals
I'm gonna test this theory I have.
I think the pedal problem is not in the Pot position or the play of the pedals. I think it's in the little deal that turns the pot itself. When you take the pedals apart, you'll notice that the pot turns when you're holding the pedal.
I've felt certain amount of roughness in this "turning". rough enough that it
will shift the pot around a bit and mess with efficiency when it "sticks"
In fact, if you were to take my pedals apart and a new logitech model
apart, you'd see radical differences.
I removed all the grease (dust magnets) and have the pedal shafts covered in teflon tape. I have the pot's held even more firmly in place with sponges. I use a spray cleaner for electronics to get rid of the build up in the turning parts between the shaft and the pot.
I have this silicone fluid lubricant, I use it on my guns as it only takes a little bit and it's high heat resistant. My theory is if i use this fluid in the area where the pedal shaft hooks up with the pot, I can cut my maintenance time time to once or twice a year instead of every 3 months........will let y'all know
as soon as I get the nerve to try it :)

ooops I guess I went waaaay waaay off topic. I'm sorry, but I think
there ought to be a sticky on pedal maintenance no matter what brand you use.

check out this (http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=1298) thread about the subject (sw false clicks). also, note that there IS an "input lag" issue that's somehow related to network lag. It's much less noticable in S2 than in S1 (at least for me). I haven't seen any threads on the subject here, at the new forum, but there were quite a few on the old forum at rsc.
